A note from Geoff
You may have already seen Julian’s Here Now in-box review. This is clearly a kit aimed at experienced modellers used to working with multi-media kits that include resin and photoetch metal; it is complex and challenging but certainly buildable and what you can end up with is a unique model of an iconic maritime vessel.

There is also a great book from Coastal Craft Models that you can use for reference when building this model and you can see my video book review of Vosper Motor Torpedo Boats – Coastal Craft Models.
Over to you Julian…
Introduction
When I purchased this kit at the Nationals (Scale Model World 2014 run by IPMS UK) I was told (I didn’t look in the box at the time) that the instructions were much easier to follow than the Vosper MTB that I have made previously.
They are – a bit.
The problem I found was that there is still no logical build sequence and not all the pictures refer to the craft in the kit.
The use of photographs is a good idea but they have to be high quality. On first glance they look ok but once one gets into the nitty-gritty of construction they require a great deal of figuring out. Their clarity being a large part of the problem.
I am working with John Lambert’s book on the Fairmile Ds’. I think it is essential to help make sense of the layout of the craft.
I started with the weapons, which follows the initial sequence of the instructions.
