On Sunday, October 28, 2018, at 1pm, the Montreal Aviation Museum will be hosting in its extensive Art Gallery the Canadian Starfighter Association for the unveiling of the 1:32 scale Hasegawa CF-104 “12704” model, as depicted in the foreground of the original (1983; 42″ x 48″) Don Connolly painting “En Route”:
“12704” was the fourth CF-104 produced under license from Lockheed by Canadair, and only the second to be flown out of Montreal (Canada), “12701” and “12702” being shipped by Hercules aircraft to Palmdale (California) for flight testing. For details, consult the Canadian Starfighter Association’s detailed web site: http://canadianstarfighterassociation.org/ , and “CF-104 Starfighter Canadian Profile” by Robert McIntyre (see references at the end of the review).
I just purchased the Italeri F-104 G/S Starfighter (kit 2504). Upon cursory examination (especially the instruction booklet), I have concluded this Italeri rendition is far superior. No harm done, as I shall build the Italeri kit in early 2019. The comparison between the two builds should be interesting.
