An earth tone was now mixed and airbrushed onto the lower sub structure and wheels of the tank.
This was done in varying degrees to emulate the dirt/dust collecting on the lower hull, behind the wheels, mud scrapers and front and rear plates. When dry, oil paints were used to simulate the streaking in a vertical manner on the sub structure.
When the oils had cured, 3-4 days, the whole model was sprayed in a gloss varnish. I used a new one for me made by Com Art which is ready to spray and has a dispensing bottle. A couple of light coats were sprayed and it seems to have covered well. This is now left for at least 3 -5 days to cure which may be a little over kill time wise but as the next stage is to use washes it is my intent to be safe rather than sorry.
