ED – Do check out Build Now – there’s a fantastic build going on in there by Andy, soon to conclude and move to Finished Now! Geoff
This new kit from Great Wall Hobby really is a treat for the modeller. Its standard is equal to the top manufacturers such as Dragon. There is no flash on any parts and no injection marks on any part that would show. The instructions are well laid out and easy to follow. The only slightly confusing part here is when you use their photo etch (PE) update detail set along the way. You need to read both sets to make sure you fix on the relevant part whether it be PE or the plastic kit part. There were no issues with fit problems except when using the update engine kit. This needed trimming to fit as did the bulkhead. The tracks are very well detailed and no need for any update aftermarket ones. I did have to trim one track down a touch for the correct fit with the amount of sag I gave the tracks . This was not really a problem though and may just have been my building as I built in sections for ease of painting. There are two sided brass mesh sheets in the kit for the sides and rear or the gun deck. Remember texture side to the outside of the rear bed of the vehicle and there is a beautiful brass basket for collecting the spent shells included in the kit.
Great wall hobby do a really well detailed Photo etch set to go with this release.
There is enough detail here to keep the advanced modeller happy. As with most PE sets there are some parts that are no better than the plastic parts when painted but if you like your metal you will be more than satisfied.
Lion Roar which is a part of Great Wall Hobby produces a beautiful gun barrel in brass for this kit. It really is among the finest I’ve seen, Full marks.
The gun barrel is backed up with another brass set which is the ammo cartridges both new and spent along with the ammo cases, once again a very nice addition to the kit.
Last but not least Great wall hobby produce a very well detailed engine for this kit and as you can build it with the engine compartment open this looks superb sat in its own little space. They even include PE engine number identification tags, thats a new one on me! They look great when on the finished model especially if the paint is chipped and you can see the brass revealed. Just like the real thing but in miniature.
