Just before we get started, here’s a quick look at how it all turned out…
The kit
This is my build of Arma Hobby’s 72nd scale Hurricane Mk.II b/c “expert set”. The kit includes two sprues of grey plastic, a sprue of clear parts, a fret of photo-etch, masks (for canopy, wheels, and lights), decals, and instructions. The instructions are printed in color on glossy paper with four-view illustrations for each marking option.
The parts are crisply moulded with almost no flash. Panel lines are very fine and well-defined. I was impressed by the depiction of fabric stretched over the fuselage stringers. These areas are very subtly faceted and very convincing for the scale. There are quite a few optional parts for building one of the six marking options of the kit. The kit includes two different sets of wings, one set for the twelve-gun B, and one set for the four-cannoned C. The clear sprue includes two versions of the sliding canopy for building in either the open or closed position. Parts are included for different exhaust, tail wheel, bomb, fuel tank, and carburettor intake, options.
