Initial assessment…
The box contains six sprues totalling 175 pieces, an etch brass sheet with 42, a bag containing a length of wire and two metal springs and finally an instruction booklet. There are lots of well detailed parts with a generous amount of small items which will require care and patience for the assembly. Two sites are included as this was a duel purpose weapon D26and D60 for the artillery gun or D27 for the Pak.
Accuracy…
I have not seen any plans for this weapon but there are some photographs of the Krupp and the Rheinmetall versions of which this model compares well. The kit captures the sit of the gun in both its travel and firing mode.
Fit…
I have not dry fitted any of the parts but a build for this kit should follow fairly quickly.
Quality…
As with all previous kits that I have looked at from this manufacturer the quality is excellent. There are some sink marks on the gun breech but these can easily be filled. Injection release marks look as if they will be not seen once the kit is assembled. There are lots of small parts and care should be exercised when removing them from the runners with the inevitable clean up. The plastic is pretty soft and requires only a small amount of glue.
Instructions…
These come in the form of a seven page booklet with some quite busy exploded views which study of will pay dividends before starting the assembly. There is also a correction sheet included for the wheel and bogie attachment. The printing is clear and the assembly sequence looks to follow a logical path.
There are no decals with the kit. A detail set is available with a metal barrel and etch screens which will surely make this a stunning replica.
As a look at from the perspective of an OOB review, this looks like an exceptional model of another rare and interesting subject from the latter part of WWII. The detail is very good with many small parts to remove and clean up which is no problem due to the minimum amount of seam lines or flash. To sum it up as very impressive is no overstatement and with care, this will build into a model that could take pride of place in any collection.
Very Highly Recommended
