Now came the time for the item I had been putting off making as I thought it was going to be a very difficult item to fabricate, namely the side position lights. I determined that it was made of a coil spring, topped with a plate to which the bulb was fitted and was supplied with electric current from a cable run through the coil to the main superstructure. I was given some small diameter soft wire from Les Venus and used this to make the coil by winding it round the tapered part of a cocktail stick. This was then cut to size. The foil from the top of a chocolate drinks container was used to make the plate being punched out with a punch and die set of the appropriate size. The bulb was made from clear stretched sprue, the top filed and polished to profile then cut to size. The cable was made from thin copper wire with a 90 degree bend to which the coil was threaded and glued with super glue. The access was trimmed off the copper wire then the plate and bulb affixed with gator glue and left to dry before using the same adhesive to fix the finished assembly to the fender. Two items were made, one for each fender.
