The cockpit tub and fuselage side walls were painted with H307 grey. Geoff (the editor) was a bit sceptical about the use of decals for the instruments but I decided to give them a go and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome – it looks quite good and the decals are good enough that they conform to the surface detail to give some texture to them. (Glad to see the decals worked well Dave – Geoff).
Once dry the tub was dry-fitted into the fuselage – a very good fit. I also test fitted the instrument coamings. The rear one fits no problems but there is a gap between the base of the front one and the cockpit sill, this was initially a little concerning but dry fitting of the front canopy showed that the framing will obscure this gap.
