Here are the tracks installed and the painting almost finished. They were painted with Vallejo Panzer Grey (an acrylic paint for some who may not have encountered it yet!). This was left to dry thoroughly then a wash of Mig Standard Rust effects was randomly applied. This uses white spirit as a thinner. Then some Mig Europe dust (a powder) thinned and wetted with white spirit and again brushed randomly over all.
I dry-brushed the sprockets with Gunze Aluminium and will pick out the track running side later. They were then fixed in position. No problem was encountered they clicked together very neatly.
Turret…
On to the turret – I am pleased to see that the bags remaining are rapidly diminishing, unless I have been drinking. (By the way when I read about the effects of drinking I gave up reading!)
The first pic shows some of the turret pieces after a coat of aluminium. The second with some of the turret pieces installed with some detail picked out.
Here I was to meet the first problem that I have encountered so far. The turret cradle is put together with the help of a jig. This is assembled in the pic above. I think I put it together correctly, but I found that the cradle’s platform when in the jig was too low and the bits to hold it to the top would not reach. I solved it by gluing all the pieces to the top and then bringing the cradle up to meet it. My thinking is that it is better a bit shorter than too long.
Here is a close-up of the turret top assembled and weathered. It will be almost impossible to see any of this once in position. The mantel is the one with the canvas cover which will be shown later!

Well, this is as far as I have progressed so far. The engine parts are still not glued in position as yet. They have to line up with the deck (on the right of the photo) and when I shuffled them into position they were not totally true so a bit of work coming up there.
So far I can say that this has been a good build. The instructions are not necessarily in sequence and I spend a lot of time jumping around the 150 pages or so to see the line up of the parts. But if you do this, all you need is there.
Finally a couple of close ups of the turret. It is a bit savage like this as most of the parts are a lot smaller than your finger nails! But it is a record of what is within and we will be without in the future!!!
