Initial Assessment
The box comes with five sprues with the now familiar hull tub cast in metal and the parts are crisp with good detail definition. You get options for the Mk 1 with the small MG turret and also without the turret for the Mk II.
Accuracy
I have no plans for this vehicle but looking at photographs it looks good to me.
Quality
It’s Tamiya; need I say more?! If you have made any of these kits you will know that they are easy to build with little or no mould lines. The kit has two defects which are: an indent on the turret where a part should fit but no part is shown there, and the injection marks on the tracks which are a pain to fill. Despite these, the kit is a joy to build.
N.B. This is illustrated in SMN’s Finished Now section, where you can check out Neil P’s previous build.
Instructions
The instructions are clear and easy to follow.
Decals
The decal sheet covers five vehicles: two Mk I and three for the Mk II all in desert finish. The decals are a tad thick but are in-register and well printed which no doubt will go onto the model well as usual.
Conclusions
This is an easy, enjoyable kit which I’m sure all who try it will agree is a truly nice product. The tracks are the only point of discord, but even this doesn’t stop me recommending this as a very nice kit. If you have not tried one of the Tamiya 1:48th scale range and you would like a nice easy build with little or no hassle, get one and ENJOY!
Highly recommended.
