For making sure the P-Cutter doesn’t slip, it’s a good idea to use Dymo self-adhesive plastic label tape. When you cut this to small lengths it acts as a ruler and can be pulled straight off, but the P-Cutter doesn’t slip. Thinner strips will curve and that’s good for the curved areas of the airframe like the undercarriage sponsons.
There are a number of raised ‘lines’ along the fuselage – not quite sure what they are on the real aircraft; probably something to do with longitudinal stability or strengthening bracing supports. You can just see some of them in this image of a USAF C-17 around the front fuselage. I’ll reduce those moulded on the kit with some sanding before I attach the wings.
Tailplane and wings…
Now the fuselage is largely cleaned up the tailplanes can be added. They fit perfectly and align equally well with the fin. I’m cleaning up the wings as I speak and these will go on next. The large fan engines may need to be painted separately (well their insides probably).
