Spraying my C-17
Just before the model is sprayed that canopy sill beneath the windscreen needed yet more Kristal Klear to provide a smooth join between clear and grey plastic.
As the instructions only give Revell mixes to achieve the correct shade of grey and I don’t have that many Revell paints I looked for a suitable colour that would work. In fact I found it hard to try and locate the name of the actual colour used on RAF Globemasters. In reality it looks lighter than Medium Sea Grey and somewhere around Barley Grey and then I saw a shade in the Hannants Xtracolor range – X126 Dark Blue-Grey and this looks just right for a decent scale replica of the correct colour. Being enamel and all one colour handling can get tricky but working on the underside first and then from front to back, I was left with the fin that could be sprayed while the model sat just clear of the table top on its undercarriage legs – lucky me!
