Final assembly
All that’s really left to do now is add the undercarriage, reinstate the dorsal aerials that I had cut off earlier to easy sanding and cleaning up (they were painted at the same time as the airframe). Add the wheels and then the undercarriage doors. The latter proved to be a bit of a sting in the tail as I couldn’t get the outer doors to sit at the correct angle and engage their retraction rams – a pain really. Still, with a bit of surgery to the rams I got it all to look authentic enough, if not totally accurate – but you can’t see them so I’m not that worried.
The rear ramp was attached, along with the four separate ramp extensions and the port-side nose access door. They all went in ok and that was about that, save for a small blob of Blu-Tac secured the rear upper portion of the cargo door to the roof of the fuselage.
Hope you like it?
