Our thanks to Osprey Publishing for supplying our review copy.
This book appears in the extensive Modelling series from Osprey Publishing and so follows their usual format.
Right at the start we get a brief history of the aeroplane, followed by its plastic history.
Broken down is a table listing all the available kits, which was correct at the time the book was written, however this was obviously before Hasegawa produced their kits in 1:48 and 1:32 as these don’t appear. Before the modelling articles, we get a useful walkround of a restored P-40N.
The models themselves, as you’d expect, are of the highest quality and there is something for everyone; super detailing, straight from the box, updating older kits and conversions. All are to the highest quality and are very inspirational. I especially liked the New Zealand P-40E, which is in a very different camouflage.
In summary, this is another inspirational title from Osprey and is definitely recommended. They could do with producing an updated title featuring the Hasegawa kits, although I will be doing a 48th Kittyhawk in this magazine very soon!
