A bit of background
Modern warfare requires tons of supplies to be brought to front-line units. Without mechanized transport for supplies, military endeavors will quickly deteriorate. No army knew this better than the Nazi Heer during WWII. They decided to standardize all of their trucks to make finding replacement parts easier. The V3000S 3-ton truck was the design they chose. From bullets to bratwursts, these trucks transported everything the Heer used. This kit features detailed engine parts and surface features plus, authentic decals for four German vehicles.
The Revell boxing
This is in fact the ICM kit re-boxed with new Revell decals and very nice it is too!
Moulding quality is to a high standard with very fine levels of detail across the board. The attached images should speak for themselves and you can decide what you think, especially as armour is probably your area. So I offer a basic insight into this Revell package that’s widely available at the time of writing and this will be good news to all of you that are interested in armour modelling in this scale. One of the great things about the V3000S is that you have many options to create a unique version of the type, mostly from your own references.
The beige sprues and high quality moulding makes the parts easy to work with and you should have no difficulty building this model whatever your level of experience.
A summary of some aspects of the kit follow:
- Nice wooden effect for the rear cargo area
- Wheel hub detail precise as is the spring suspension
- Bonnet grille cleanly moulded
- Separate doors allowing you to pose any them open
- Engine, drive shaft and external underside detail full
- Cabin detail
- ‘Rubber-vinyl’ tyres
- Small decal sheets with number / plate markings.
Instructions
These follow the usual Revell format with Revel colour references, parts and sprue layout diagrams followed by a 66-Stage build (no less) and finishing sequence. The sequence looks to be logical to me but of course you will want to leave off all the small, delicate parts like the aerial until near the end of the build to avoid damage.
To sum up
This is really a very impressive package and I reckon that you’ll be made up if 1:35 modern armour modelling is your area of interest. Most of the mainstream manufacturers are releasing plenty of current AFV models and this can only be good news for us modellers! Levels of detail are excellent for the scale and fit looks to be clean and pretty trouble-free.
