Airframe Album No.8: The de Havilland Hornet and Sea Hornet – A Detailed Guide to the RAF and FAA’s Last Twin-engine Fighter.
Amazingly, this is the eighth title to be published in short time in this growing series that offers modellers enough reference and guidance to scale modellers interested in building the type. I like many things about this series: the fact that models featured are in the most popular scales, making the book really useful to as wide an audience as possible. This has the spin-off effect of making me at least consider building a model of a subject I like (such as the Hornet) in a different scale.
The de Havilland Hornet has proved to be an elusive subject for scale modellers until recently with kits available in 1:72 and 1:48 scales. There is the HPH kit in 1:32 although that’s no easy build.
This Airframe Album No.8 is going to be ideal for anyone tackling the HPH (1:32), Trumpeter (1:48) and the Special Hobby and Frog kits in 1:72 scale.
Contents include:
- Many historical photographs
- Period detail images during production and service use
- Isometric views by Wojciech Sankowski of all prototype and production airframes
- Colour profiles and by Richard J. Caruana
- 146 pages in total
- Lists of all Hornet/Sea Hornet kits, accessories and decals produced in all scales
- Kit builds of the Special Hobby 1:72nd Sea Hornet NF Mk 21 by Libor Jekl and the Tumpeter 1:48th Hornet F Mk 1 by Steve Evans.
Recommended to all aircraft scale modellers
