Here are the vital statistics:
• 224 pages
• black and white photos throughout
• multiple line drawings
• unique photo coverage
• maps of the period
• vessels involved in the conflict
• key personalities involved throughout the period
• 24 chapters covering everything from China and Japan in the second half of the 19th century and the genesis of the conflict through to the major engagements and the capture of Pescadores and Taiwan.
This is an extremely well researched and detailed account of the Sino-Japanese Naval War in 1894 through to 1895. The author has managed to access a wealth of information that I doubt has been widely available before making the book of particular interest to anyone with an interest in the conflict or countries at that time.
Quality of production is very good and the soft-cover format makes the book easy to read and very portable, given its size.
See our other maritime book reviews in that section of SMN – much to interest all naval scale modellers.
