Solution: modify the Airfix 1:76 ambulance from the RAF Emergency set (A03304)

Right side ambulance wall; cut length level with the inside seat/stretcher holder

…and add the prototypical decals from CanMilAir (http://www.canmilair.com/contact.htm)
