The whole airframe has received a priming coat using Mr.Surfacer/Finisher 1500 Black and applied straight from the rattle can and made a a quick and easy job of this task.
The narrowed gaps between at the elevator/fuselage now look much more scale-realistic to me. This photo helps to show how smooth a paint finish that product gives.
It’s a shame that so much of the lovely bomb bay detail is now covered by the fairings but that’s the nature of this beast.
Plenty of tonal variation work to do with the main painting stages which are next on the agenda. The preparation and priming of the smaller components including the turrets, flaps, undercarriage doors etc can now progress alongside.
Apart from a little inevitable cosmetic work on the fuselage and nacelle/wing joins I’ve found this kit a pleasure to build thus far.As previously mentioned the fit of the main wings to fuselage proved perfect and no further cosmetic and priming work is necessary on the main airframe.
The ‘industrial’ masking has been removed from the cockpit and forward turret area and await the transparencies which are all now fully-masked and ready for priming and fitting.
Beginning to look a lot like a Lancaster and a blank canvas now ready for some serious airbrush sessions in the paint shop.
Back soon for more…

That black has gone down beautifully!
Paul Ainsworth says
Hello and thank you once again,Rob.
That’s much appreciated.
The primer is an absolute joy to work with even when used directly from the rattlecan.
The model’s ready now for the airbrush-painting which will commence with some tonal work on the undersides and look forward to updating again shortly.
As Always,
Paul.😉👍
