A separate fuselage spine is moulded independently which is excellent as the details on this part are lost due to sanding when the fuselage is glued together.
The afterburner cans consist of internal and external parts which look good when weathering them.
The lower fuselage is moulded separately with the middle plate as another piece.
The wheel wells are also moulded separately and need to be glued before attaching to the rest of the fuselage.
Do not forget to drill holes for the inner pylons.
The vertical fin has a separate rudder which can be posed to one side for added interest.
The elevators can also be posed for take off or in neutral position.
Folded wing tips are included in the kit if you decide to fold them up. I decided to build “Black Mike” with extended wing tips and the flaps in 0’ position. Airbrakes are also moulded separately and can be posed open, but I decided to close them for this build.
The landing gear units and doors are beautifully detailed, but the front landing gear door is moulded in clear plastic which is a mystery to me. Array of finned or un-finned Skyflash and AIM-9 Sidewinders are included in the kit to arm your Phantom.
Extended refuelling probe is also included with the kit but I didn’t use it. I used the one-piece canopy because I will use my model for inflight photo shoot.
