Full Review with Rick Goodenough
Here’s a quick look at how it all turned out…
My initial impression on examining the Airfix Spitfire Mk.XIV was one of optimism and excitement. It is very well presented and I was drawn to the panel lines on the larger parts that will take a wash, something I always look for. I would refer you to the editors in box review for a more detailed analysis.
I was given the option of not doing the kit scheme although the all over silver Canadian scheme example is a beauty. A trawl of the internet revealed a sheet by Exito Decals “Sweet Fourteens” which gave options for 3 camouflaged Mk.XIVs. I chose 21-M from 443 Sqn RCAF as it features a striking yellow spinner spiral that I had never seen before and which appealed to me.
Always keen to start, I like to take pieces off the sprues early on and have a massive cleanup session.
