Decals
Once the paint had fully cured the masking was all removed ready for the decals. The supplied decals are very good and went down no problem with Micro Set and Micro Sol. There are not many to apply so it was an unusually quick job! The Airfix decal instructions do state that the stencil detail may have been painted over on the actual aircraft, and discretion should be applied. I elected to apply them all.
I forgot to paint the exhaust stacks earlier, so I masked off around them and used Alclad Exhaust Manifold.
Final Assembly
Once the decals had fully dried overnight, I gave the whole thing a good coat of VMS satin varnish, my favourite clear coat.
I built up the last of the assemblies, the undercarriage and prop. These were then fitted to complete the build.
Weathering
I didn’t want to go too mad with the weathering. The one photograph I found of this aircraft showed it fairly clean looking, there isn’t even much exhaust staining on the fuselage. I gave it a pin wash using AMMO panel liner, Blue Grey.
I added a bit of dirt and grime, not too much though, just enough to break up the panels a bit.

“Hello,Chris” – I’ve thoroughly enjoyed viewing this superb build feature and compliment you on this magnificent model, or should I say ‘Scale Replica’.
With any build my eyes are always drawn to the paint-finishing and she looks ‘first class’ in my book.Wonderful.
Best Wishes,
Paul.😉👍

Extremely impressive build. I really like the simple subtle effect that you have achieved and the Tamiya lacquer looks terrific stuff. A really great result.

That’s what I call a perfect(ly) NATURAL metal finish. And such a subtle weathering too.
Wonderful!
