The Eduard kit
This kit has to be one of my favorites from the Eduard range, I picked this one up for a steal at Telford 2015 along with the Yefim Gordon MiG-15 book which is exquisite.
The Algerian Air Force aircraft was chosen as it was just different and had an interesting colour and the exact aircraft has a photo in the aforementioned book.
Construction
I started as I always do with the cockpit which is a joy to build with the fabulous etched panels and seat belts, you also need very good eyesight as its all quite small!
The actual constructon of the MiG begun soon after and it fitted together beautifully and didn’t take long. After sanding down the join lines (no filler was used) I masked the clear canopy parts which I had glued in place with PVA, I began to apply the paint.
Painting
The blue on the underside was mixed with H308 gray and a few drops of H5 blue.
The main sandy colour was painted using H313 then freehanded the green using H320.
A gloss coat was applied for the decals and I must say when the decals were applied I was in two minds whether or not to use a matt coat at the end as it looked pretty nice, but in the end I chose the matt coat.
Final parts
All the undercarriage parts were added next as were the drop tanks, the clear parts were also unmasked and fitted in the open position.
Finished!
