The model
OK, now the model, the starting point is the Hasegawa kit in 1:48th scale, old box but well known by modellers. The add-ons were:
- Resin cockpit from Black Box
- Exhausts from Aires
- Air intakes in white resin (can’t remember for those ones where they’re from!)
- Wolfpack wings set ; includes movable slats and flaps
- Eduard wheels and radar sets
- Vagabond decal sheet
- For all the rest, they are scratched!
Ok, first thing was to determine which panels should be opened; as always I was thinking to make the bird look like a cheese full of holes… however, I’ve got to think that if I want them opened, I’ll have to know what’s inside and that’s beyond the limit of most of books I have! So here’s a view of the fuselage with the first cuts!
The making of the different bays: Very simple, using Evergreen plasticard. I built a box for each bay, taking my time with some dry fitting it gives this result…
