Short Feature Article by Dave Coward
Background
I thought I needed to do something a little different with my Meteor as Geoff had already done a silver version so the hunt was on for a suitable candidate, fortunately not long after the announcement of the kit release Kits World announced their intention to produce a series of aftermarket decal options one of which was a striking all yellow aircraft – decision made!!
Gloster Meteor Mk.IV, serial number EE455 of the RAF High Speed Flight in 1945 was known as `Yellow Peril` or `Forever Amber`. The aircraft was finished in overall gloss Trainer Yellow with a union Jack on the nose and the writing `Gloster Meteor IV Derwent Engines` painted under the cockpit. It was flown by Gloster Chief Test Pilot Eric Greenwood (1909 – 1979) setting a speed of 603 mph on 7 November 1945.
Here are a couple of photos of my finished model with plenty more to come in the final part of this build coming soon.
