Undercarriage Bays
HKM provide very nicely detailed main undercarriage bays which are in 4 parts for each wing. I painted the parts Zinc Chromate on the sprue and varnished, washed and then matt varnished them before adding scratches and such like with a graphite pencil. Unless you elect to stand your model on a mirror this is all unlikely to be seen again but I think it all looks very workmanlike and needs in my opinion no further work.
The completed bays are almost a snap fit into the lower wing but when adding the upper wing a gap appears around the inboard engine to wing joint. After much head scratching, I found the problem to be the moulded raised strip into which the bay sits in the upper wing but is utterly superfluous. I snipped these off and the fit was flawless.
