Decals
The stars and bar decals and the stencils all went on without a hitch and respond well with decal fix. Certainly once on the wings spring to life and with just the prominent oil stains to go the build continues well.
Quick overview
I thought I would add here a quick look at the beast with the wings in place…not clicked in properly but enough for you to get an appreciation of the size of the beast and to see how it’s all coming together even though it’s a modular build.
Engines
The engines are simple affairs with the detail around the cooling gills in particular very soft and unlike the real thing. Eduard Brassin do resin replacements at £20 each so you pay your money and take your choice here but for a £250 kit I am disappointed especially as the B-25 engines were excellent. They are snug inside the cowlings so simply adding ignition harnesses will add significantly to the model. I haven’t added any as I am as you know building from the box. Once base-coated, I used an oil wash and some graphite sticks for scratches and such like and they look sufficiently workmanlike for placing on their mountings (for the eagle-eyed I know the rocker covers are missing I just forgot to take a photo)!
Once secure on the wings it was simply a matter of sliding on the pre-painted cowlings and that was it for now.
