Conclusion

I looked up on the internet the other day to see if anyone has finished an HpH MiG-15 bis. I could only find I HpH MiG product and I don’t think it is a MiG-15 bis. The reviewer appears to have used the stock photos from HpH but there are differences to the Mig I am building.

No one has as yet completed a “public “ build and I imagine that there will be few on offer.

Now, this kit builds up into a fine model – no doubt about that – it is superbly detailed. There lies the rub… Although the instructions are photo representations of the stages there is no indication of how to arrive at some of the solutions.
I am usually fairly patient, but this tried me to the utmost. There is too much “making good” to do. Whether it is as a result of me or the lack of pointers in the instructions I don’t know.

There is almost no way to assemble parts in advance and test the stages. This bearing in mind my warning at the commencement of the project.

Looking at the finished result it is difficult to remember all the issues as the final model looks so simple !!

At least I didn’t throw it at the wall although there were moments when I was sorely tempted!

This is a build for experienced modellers.

With reference to the summary above. The moulding is mixed. The exterior is excellent but there are fitting problems early on and I think that this is where the main difficulties I had stem from.

As far as the accuracy goes I haven’t measured it but I have looked at hundreds of MiG-15 photos and It seems to lack nothing in detail.

The instructions I have commented on, but I would add that some of the drawings do not resemble the parts in the kit at all!
