Finishing the rigging and adding the final parts
The upper wing was attached – no issues here and once left to dry the rigging from the lower wing was attached to the relevant rigging points on the lower side of the upper wing. The rods across the wing rigging was replicated using cut down acupuncture needles.
Fuel piping from the upper wing tank to the fuselage tank was added with lead wire as were the main wheel brake pipes. A fuel indicator was added using spare clear sprue and the mirror with punched out shiny plastic.
For the broken off tail wheel I bent some Albion Alloy wire of the correct diameter into the shape of the wheel strut and drilled out the wheel and tail wheel location point to accept the wire. This was a lot stronger than the kit part and the wheel could now be moved away from centre to add some interest.
Rather than use the kit clear parts for the wing tip lights I mixed up 5-minute epoxy with Tamiya Clear Red / Green paint and used this to make the lights. I also used this method (uncoloured) for the rudder light.
The final part was to add the engine and that was the model complete.
