The fuselage has quite a few holes in it that have no backing so I fitted some plastic tubes to give them some depth and painted the area around the exhaust black.
There is no indication in the instructions that any nose weight is required but better safe than sorry so some lead shot was wrapped in Blu-Tac and fitted above the front wheel well.
The fuselage halves were then joined together – no dramas here but a slight bit of filler will be required just to blend in the seams.
On to the wings next…
The wells are in three pieces and again the fit is good as is the upper and lower wing attachment.
While all this was drying I had a thought about those terrible seat harness decals and I had a brain wave. To give them some depth and texture I attached them to some wine bottle lead and will cut them out later and see how they go – I’m still not convinced though and may try and get some resin replacements.
Now it’s time to start putting all the assemblies together…
The wings / fuselage fit is OK but I added some spacers between the intakes and fuselage sides to force the sides out and give a tighter fit to the wings. There is still a gap between the leading edge and fuselage side but it is small enough that filler will sort it out. The kit has the option of the airbrake being fitted open or closed and the fit is good enough to allow either option to be taken without any issues. One thing I did notice is the kit has two versions for the fillet at the rear base of the fin. Looking at reference pictures I’ve seen both versions on T1s so check any references you have for the aircraft you intend to build. Whilst on options the kit also has three different inserts that fit above the jet pipe, one is obviously for the Red Arrows variant as the kit specifies this one as it has the three pipes for the coloured diesel that is sprayed into the exhaust to create the red/white/blue smoke. The other two are for normal T1`s so again check your refs for which to use.
