Short Feature Article by Mike Tipping
Intro from Geoff
Well… I bet you weren’t expecting that? Very nice project by Mike T. involving the use of realistic LED lighting for the ventral and dorsal flashing light positions. Add to that a nice pilot figure that’s been well painted and hey, you have an eye-catching model on your hands – love it!
This is definitely not in the ‘toy-like’ category that some of the lighting projects I have seen can end up with. You may be aware of the great Smart-FX sound board/lighting competition we have just run (winners to be announced this week). This is another extension of their approach, albeit using a different manufacturer – but the broad principle remains the same – to create an authentic, realistic model project that is really interesting.
I was just thinking how by adding the final element – sound (maybe using one of the Smart-FX excellent sound boards you would have the complete package – another day maybe. What’s for sure is that we have 2-3 special projects underway around the SMN Team that are going to be fantastic when complete, so keep an eye on What’s New and Build Now for those!
