Windows seem to be the first problem that we need to think about with this kit. The white plastic is pretty good, the kit being first released by Revell back in 1992. The thing is… no clear parts are supplied for the windows. This seems odd to me, especially given that clear parts were always supplied way back in the 1960s when I first started building model kits.
You do get some very nice decals that the manufacturer would have you lay down over the holes after painting, although I just can’t see that being very convincing, to me at least. Surely they would risk getting damaged and take on a concave look? For sure you could fill all the window apertures and apply the decals over that? We’ll try this method in a forthcoming build to see how it looks.
On with the build…
As you can see, the kit is very simple and straightforward. There is no cockpit detail at all and the large nose gear bay assembles and is inserted into one fuselage half. Note that the small nose gear bay doors have prominent mould pin marks on their inner faces and these do sand away as I did, or you can fill them – your choice.
I sprayed the interior flat dark grey as you won’t be able to see anything of the interior on the finished model.

Now you have got me wanting to try an airliner Geoff lol.
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Hi James, – thanks for that. I have to say there’s something about these airliner projects that makes them a challenge for sure to me – I just don’t want them to look toy-like! We’ll see….onto the painting as we speak so a new update soon. Geoff C.

Krystal Klear leads to slightly concave windows…so you’d think adding more would help out. But I have never seen anyone do that– so maybe it doesn’t work.

Hi Steve – yes that’s the problem with KK – a couple of other possibilities have popped up and I’ll have to make a decision soon – we’ll see! Thanks, G

Hello,Geoff – Superb work as always,my friend.Viewing this build does tempt me to do an airliner subject without doubt.
The ‘Xtreme’ Metals are excellent paints.
Good luck with everything at Telford this coming weekend.😊👏

Thanks Paul – done a lot on it today and may get it finished this week which would be good :)
It’s surprised me how much work there is in these subjects – a challenge but very rewarding so far.
Can’t wait for Telford :) G
