The fuselage was given a couple of coats of the white primer, leaving a few hours between them. After this, back with the Micromesh 8000 grade cloth and water to work the surface and create a nice smooth finish.

There were a few areas that needed a little more white and this time I used Tamiya Flat White (XF-2) for a bit more control (I hate spraying anything with spray cans – the high pressure and lack of control can often leave you applying too much. You can of course decant the paint into a container and then into your airbrush to spray but it’s all a bit of a faff).
I left the 767 overnight and then started the task of masking off the white areas ready to take the BA blue – in this case Halfords Fiat Capri Blue. As a bit of a test I sprayed the engine cowls first and was really surprised at how good and even the coverage was using the can approach. An hour later and another thin coat saw the engines looking good.
Be sure when masking out the white to get the masking tape into the recessed panel lines – I was a bit lax here and had some bleed to remedy later as you’ll see.
On with the BA blue and again, very impressed with the coverage. As ever though, be sure to make sure you spray in a normal room temperature and shake the can really well – at least 2 minutes of vigorous shaking needed. After spraying invert the can and give 3-4 squirts to clear the nozzle of paint.

I did get a few small areas where the demarcation line needed tidying up and so I masked out the blue (after leaving a couple more days to dry hard) so that I could touch in a light spray of the white where needed and then later be ready for the wing paint job, and that comes next.

Now you have got me wanting to try an airliner Geoff lol.
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
Cheers

Hi James, – thanks for that. I have to say there’s something about these airliner projects that makes them a challenge for sure to me – I just don’t want them to look toy-like! We’ll see….onto the painting as we speak so a new update soon. Geoff C.

Krystal Klear leads to slightly concave windows…so you’d think adding more would help out. But I have never seen anyone do that– so maybe it doesn’t work.
Geoff Coughlin says
Hi Steve – yes that’s the problem with KK – a couple of other possibilities have popped up and I’ll have to make a decision soon – we’ll see! Thanks, G

Hello,Geoff – Superb work as always,my friend.Viewing this build does tempt me to do an airliner subject without doubt.
The ‘Xtreme’ Metals are excellent paints.
Good luck with everything at Telford this coming weekend.😊👏

Thanks Paul – done a lot on it today and may get it finished this week which would be good :)
It’s surprised me how much work there is in these subjects – a challenge but very rewarding so far.
Can’t wait for Telford :) G
