There’s not a lot left now – really just adding all the sub-assemblies like the undercarriage, engine pods and some small details like aerials and a tiny red light for the forward upper fuselage.
For the light I have some old MV lenses and found a great small red lens that is perfect. First though – just drill into the location point with a pin vide drill to make a small concave-shaped recess – the lens will look and fit much better and is secured using AMMO clear / PE glue.
The antennae were scratched from thin plasticard and attached with cyano – the last detail just some windscreen wipers and probes either side of the nose, all from fine fuse wire.
And that, as they say, is that…
Closing thoughts…
As you may remember, my plan with this project was to try and tackle the windows and I am really pleased with how they have turned out – much better and cleaner I think than using epoxy or Kristal Klear by adding to the outside. I think for me, I have seemingly cracked the window issue (for me anyway) and just can’t see another method working as well for me and giving such a good result.
The Revell kit is excellent and I particularly like the fine recessed panel lines and fit of parts. The decals are good quality – very slightly thick but they went on well and just a bit of an odd shape to the design and fit of the fin rose at the base of the fin. In addition, some of the decals for the doors/window arrangement don’t seem to be appropriate for the aircraft.
In terms of trying to achieve a model that doesn’t look toy-like? You’ll have to decide yourself …for me the finished model looks like a decent representation of the type.
We have some more civil airliners and I’m looking forward to trying those out, especially those from Zvezda for example.

Now you have got me wanting to try an airliner Geoff lol.
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Hi James, – thanks for that. I have to say there’s something about these airliner projects that makes them a challenge for sure to me – I just don’t want them to look toy-like! We’ll see….onto the painting as we speak so a new update soon. Geoff C.

Krystal Klear leads to slightly concave windows…so you’d think adding more would help out. But I have never seen anyone do that– so maybe it doesn’t work.
Geoff Coughlin says
Hi Steve – yes that’s the problem with KK – a couple of other possibilities have popped up and I’ll have to make a decision soon – we’ll see! Thanks, G

Hello,Geoff – Superb work as always,my friend.Viewing this build does tempt me to do an airliner subject without doubt.
The ‘Xtreme’ Metals are excellent paints.
Good luck with everything at Telford this coming weekend.😊👏

Thanks Paul – done a lot on it today and may get it finished this week which would be good :)
It’s surprised me how much work there is in these subjects – a challenge but very rewarding so far.
Can’t wait for Telford :) G
