Changing the pods
Unfortunately I now discovered that I had used to wrong gun pods so these were removed and the Mk.58 once put in their place. This required a respray but nothing too major. As a note whilst spraying the main airframe I also sprayed all the ancillaries such as the flaps, airbrake and undercarriage doors the required colours.
The wheel wells and flap recesses were masked off and sprayed gloss white. Unsurprisingly I now had a bit of a minor overspray issue where the white got onto some of blue tail section so this had to be re-sprayed. The blue subsequently got onto the light grey arc so more masking and re-spraying – will this never end!!!
Flying Fists
The kit has masks for the `Flying Fists` on either side of the tail. These were added later on in the aircraft life so it’s up to you whether you use them. They can be used as either positive or negative masks. Early on in the build I sprayed the tail gloss white and placed the positive masks in position prior to the dark blue. The masks were removed at the end to reveal the markings.
