With the wood grain test passed, then the build went back to common modelling. I worked the landing gear, a highlight of this kit, as it is beautifully moulded, and this time, a quite accurate reproduction of the real aircraft’s gear. Perhaps, attention must be paid on not using kit’s part number 35, an ‘X’- shaped support, as it was an addition by the Americans, as the aircraft landing gear began to weaken after years in the open, and risk of collapse became real. This part should be used, only if the model will represent the aircraft in the post war years in the US. Usual techniques were employed, including the convenient Uschi’s masks, Molotow liquid chrome marker, oils, pastels, cooper wire to make the brake fluid lines, and Uschi’s elastic thread for the rear gear cables. The whole set of the landing gear is convincing and looks great, very well done by Revell.

Hi Ricardo. Great looking build. What’s the name of the tool you are using that copies the shape and contours of parts? I’d like to get one.
Thanks.
Ricardo Barrientos says
Hi Andrew, you can find it as a Contour Gauge. Good luck and thank you for reading!

This is some incredible work and goes to show that with some elbow grease and TLC, this model can be built to the same standard of the Z-M Horten Ho 229 (or exceed it in this case).
Ricardo Barrientos says
Hi Albert, thank you very much for your kind comments! And yes, “elbow grease”, but above all, love, and passionate dedication to this hobby! Happy holidays and my very best regards from Guatemala!
