A word on photo etched sets for this kit. A colleague from IPMS Guatemala joked saying “you Ricardo don’t put the aftermarket to the kit; you put the kit to the aftermarket…” And in this build, well he is kind of right because I invested in all possible aftermarket products to help me improve it.
So, initially I got the Extratech 1997´s O-42 (cockpit) and O-43 (exterior) sets indicated for Italeri and Bilek kits and 1998´s eduard 72237 indicated for the Italeri kit. But unfortunately, I discover that in reality the Extratech and Eduard 72237 sets were designed only for the Bilek kit, as many of the parts, I assure you, won’t fit in the Italeri/Revell one. The Bilek kit is oversized (probably out of scale), and some parts look more like 1:48 than 1:72…
Then, too late, I realised that in 1999 eduard issued a corrected set, 72284, this time truly dedicated for the Italeri/Revell kit (but, as is the case with many aftermarket products, not entirely free of trouble…). So, I ended up with 3 sets, which by one hand was a waste of money, but in the other, gave me with plenty of options to choose the best of all. You can judge me…
In order to show the flaps in extended position, I used some styrene rod. I carefully opened the spent cartridge ejector chutes.
