Exterior
On the outside I added handlebars everywhere they were missing. Also I rebuilt the winch on the starboard side and added some wiring, as well as on the main undercarriage. I added a scratchbuilt radio antenna using needles and flexible thread.
Canopy glazing
This was a challenge to clean up but it is improved by polishing and adding small details like the windscreen wipers from soap plasticard.
Onto painting
After painting the green window parts and glueing the masked clear parts in place, I used self-mixed Revell enamel colors for the outside. The washing was made with thinned acrylic colours, some dry-brushing brought out the details. I didn’t want to go too far on weathering.
Decals
The decals were completely out of the spares box, from UH-1 to various sources…but in the end I could get an overall good, if not perfectly correct result, and a very nice addition to my chopper collection.
