Tricky cowl and onto the engine…
The kit cowl is not so good, being made up of three parts, although the breaks are usefully along two of the panel lines on the real aircraft. Staying with the engine… this is perhaps the most complex sub-assembly once all the Eduard bits are added. Take great care when putting it all together as the completed engine doesn’t fit very well inside the cowl. I shaved a bit off the top of each cylinder head and added the prominent pipes linking the engine to the collector ring right at the end of the project as I just couldn’t get everything to fit well during the dry-run stages.
I painted the engine a combination of Revell matt very dark grey No.9, semi-gloss black and silver for the cylinders, washed with Citadel Colour Shadow Black ink to bring out the detail.
