Creating a Propblur effect

You may have seen the shortened version of what follows in your SMN Techniques Bank that went in there recently? What follows is a longer piece giving some more detail about Ian’s build of the impressive Tamiya kit.

What do you think? Personally I think that the way Ian has finished his A-1H and the spinning prop effect certainly helps create a sense of movement and action.

First… a little bit about these unusual and very useful additions in photo etch (PE) to help create a realistic-looking propeller blur effect on your finished model. Over to you Ian…

These products are produced by a U S company called Prop Blur, they produce photo etch brass prop blades in various styles and in the four main aircraft scale that being: 1:144th, 1:72nd , 1:48th and 1:32nd scales.

Here’s a bit about the build…

The kit was built straight from box including the pilot figure – the only modification besides the prop was the undercarriage doors and tail wheel.
