The next stage is the cockpit
This is OK from the box but as I was going to have the cockpit open I opted to use Eduard’s colour PE which is a quick way of adding that extra detail with not too much hassle.
The front upper fuselage half had the interior and exterior cockpit areas painted up before attaching it to the rear upper section and subsequently to the lower section with the already added intake detail. This all goes together hassle free as I pretty much would expect with a modern tooling Tamiya kit. The cockpit was masked off with the unused canopy parts (the kit contains both clear and smoked canopies) and the wheel bats with Tamiya tape and blue tack.
Next everything was primed with Tamiya fine grey primer and then the base grey coat was applied. Once dry this was post shaded with lighter and darker shades of the base colour.
