Camo scheme – “Powder Puff”!
Next came the camouflage scheme and I used Blue Tac to get the soft demarcation line I was looking for. Again, I post-shaded the blue with lighter and darker shades for some interest. I would say that care needs to be taken here when lining up the camouflage pattern around the upper ‘NAVY’ lettering due to its dual colouring. I had to redo this area several times in order to get the colours in the word ‘NAVY’ to match up with the camouflage line.
Once I was happy with this I applied a dark grey was to the panel lines and other surface detail, I didn’t use black as the detail become too stark in my opinion and unrealistic.
The white nose cone was added; no fit issues here and the wing tip weapons pylons. The main wheel strut supports could now also be added. I then gave everything a gloss coat of Tamiya X-22 50/50 with Gunze Self Levelling thinner ready for the decals.
