Full Review with Dave Coward
A note from Geoff…
OK, before we get going I thought that you’d want to see just how this project turned out and so here you go – three pics of a truly excellent model. Well done Dave on a superb job :)
Background
This will be the third Tamiya Corsair I have built which says straight away how much I rate this kit. There are full build reviews in SMN of my Birdcage and F4U-1A builds for you to have a look at.
I decided to do this a little differently to the previous builds with regards to kit options. This one will have the wings folded and the flaps up. I will also use a variety of aftermarket products (see the list below) that I have found, from my previous builds, really enhance the finished model.
I will keep the words to a minimum as my other two builds are a bit more in depth in this respect so if you want more details about the build process have a look at them.
The plan was to build one of the out of the box aircraft schemes but with a different serial number. The reason behind this was I wanted to use masks for the main markings and Montex provided the scheme I wanted but with a different serial number aircraft.
There is also a lot of reference material out there for this squadron, if not this particular aircraft, so I had a good starting point for how it should look and what markings it had.
