Wings
Next on the agenda were the wings. A decision on whether to have these folded or extended has to be made fairly early on in this build as this will drive the remainder of the build sequence. As I said at the start I chose to fold the wings and have the flaps down. This wouldn’t make the build any more difficult than opting for the extended wing and deployed flaps but would just involve the use of different parts.
Once constructed the wings can be attached to the fuselage, the tail surfaces can be added and the front canopy. The elevators have fixed options in the kit for neutral or down positions (you can have them up if you reverse the down option but this isn’t shown in the instructions).
The rudder is fixed neutral but again with a little work it could be offset. I always like to paint the inside of the glazed parts especially in this scale as using an exterior base layer leaves the interior with a gloss finish which is very unrealistic. With the flaps being in the up position these could also be fitted at this point. The outer wings were also constructed ready for painting.
