Why this project?
For a long time I wanted to work on this project. The SPAD with “Toilet Bomb” under the wing has titillated my imagination for years … until Trumpeter made me very happy by producing the Skyraider kit in 1:32. With “complicity” of Brengun, which produces excellent … Toilets, both in 1:48 in 1:32, I had the embarrassment of the choice … now the monster is ‘on my workbench!
The Kit
Box size and its content are considerably large; The Skyraider was a machine really strong and big, the size of the kit fully testifies to it. I have to say immediately that I had plenty of difficulty trying to manipulate the model after assembly of the fuselage – it’s a big bird!
The mould quality is excellent and so are the rivets and panel lines, clear and precise as I love. In short terms, an impressive kit that I do not hesitate to recommend.
Possible versions of the box decals are two: USAF and US Navy; I chose the second, avoiding the “bumblebee” so often already seen. I opted for the “Paper Tiger II” 572 aboard the USS Midway in October 1965, with the “Toilet Bomb “under the right wing.
