With the bottom wings on, the engines are finally glued into place. It was at a later point in the build that I realised I should have ‘rigged’ these inner struts at this point. Trying to do it with the top wing on was the most difficult part of the build due to lack of room to manoeuvre around.
With the rigging attached to the turnbuckles on the top wing sections and the centre section already in place it was time for the top wing end sections. There’s a very generous tab on each section that locates into the centre and the fit was very snug. One wing went on perfect with a coat of Tamiya glue (I didn’t want to use extra thin for these parts) but the second was just a touch too tight so had to have a sand of the tab. The trouble was its all quite worrying when you need to ‘test fit’ and then find it hasn’t located properly and then won’t come out either. Anyway, with some gentle force (read as worrying blind panic) I managed to remove, sand and fit the second wing.
With the top wings locked to the centre the struts simply plugged into their respective holes. This isn’t a small span by any means (600mm wide) but the whole thing is so sturdy and secure with all the parts in place is a credit to Wingnut Wings for their engineering.
