In the end and after much to-ing and fro-ing I’m going with this day scheme, as I see many of the builds done in the hex and fancied being a bit different!
Opening stages and we work on the crew compartments. Our early scheme calls for the removal of sections to allow bomb racks to be installed.
These were straightforward enough to achieve but a brand new blade and several smooth runs were the order of the day to ensure a ‘clean’ cut followed by a scrape and file.
We then need to drill various holes at various sizes for the racks and seating for this front compartment.
Payload
And then clean up the payload which are all provided in groups on the sprue, which was nice.
The racks are next up and I grabbed the foot pedals as the same time as these would be the same colour. Callouts give semi gloss black but I went with Gunze metalizer Dark Iron as I really like this to give a little ‘buff’ across the edges to add a ‘wear’ effect.
The bombs were sprayed with a light blue then a coat of 50% water 50% future to add a nice sheen.
When dry AK Interactive Shafts and Bearings Grease was applied to bring out the details.
The cages and bombs are then assembled. This one is for the rear compartment.
Finished and the overall effect looks very nice.
