Sorry about the delay with progress – that’s the last time I take on two major projects at the same time…
Wing assembly
One of the strengths of this build I feel is that each section is taken in turn and you can get organised planning your build around these. You need to keep a careful eye as I’ve said on which exact aircraft you plan to finish your model in so Sprue G is significant for the Mustang IV we are building here in RAAF colours.
The wing assembly is one that when complete will show good progress so here goes…
You need to carefully study the instructions when assembling the wing internal structure as several parts are handed; I did decide to leave off the landing light until later to avoid unnecessary masking and I hope that I’ll be able to add it at the end of the build.
Zinc Chromate Yellow dominates with much of the interior wing framing, gun bay doors, wing leading edge inserts and so on all getting a coat of Tamiya XF-4 Yellow Green that’s a good match for the colour I wanted.
The internal fuel cells are painted dark grey with details picked out in Citadel Bolt Gun Metal and XF-4 as needed. These will all but disappear when the wings are joined so you may want to save time and do a dry run to see what’s worth painting and adding in your build.
