Cockpit starts
You can see that the kit supplied is very detailed with nice raised instrument and console detail for the side wall panels, floor and stick. I notice that no belts are supplied and so I plan to scratch some of these using metal foil later on, but for now you can see the main cockpit parts prepared for painting.
Notice too the incredibly innovative design of the structure that features a one-piece triangular moulding that seems to act as a wing-spar and internal wheel bay / cockpit base. It’s unclear as yet what of this is going to be visible and so I have painted it Gunmetal as suggested in the instructions. Ahead of the painting there’s plenty of cleaning up to do and removal of ejection pins but nothing too onerous at all. Looking to put it all together now!
The cockpit receives a coat of Tamiya Sky to represent the Sky Green indicated in the instructions; this will be weathered soon so you can see how I get on with that, ahead of starting on the main fuselage assembly.
