Intro from Geoff…
Every now and again you see a kit box with striking box art or a photo of a subject that really takes your fancy – just look at the box art above? I mean, who wouldn’t want to build one of those?! Chatting with Gary and seeing that he had actually built an F-16 in this awesome scheme meant that I just had to ask him to share his build with all of you and that’s exactly what he’s agreed to do – thanks Gary, we all really appreciate it.
So, just before we take off and I hand over to Gary, here are two photos of his completed build – I love it and I hope that you do too. You are in for another real treat too as Gary shows in detail all the mods and improvements that he has undertaken to get the very best out of the Tamiya kit; one that on the surface is a nice model but not quite up to Tamiya’s usual exceptional standard.
The plan
It is my intention to build this kit pretty much out of the box. Having said that, even Tamiya kits benefit from a little extra detail now and then. To be fair to Tamiya, the Aces II seat provided in the kit is pretty darn good. Especially when you consider Tamiya provide an excellent pilot figure which they expect you to place on the seat (hence the lack of harness detail).
